Our Daycare Center
The daycare and development center for children with special needs is the only one in Kotayk province, and it was founded by the Children Assistance Fund in Hrazdan city. Services are provided for children with special needs, for children with social- psychological problems, and for children who are in difficult situations in life. 150 children take advantage of the center every month. The goal of the center is to assist in the social and psychological recovery and integration into community life in the region for children with disabilities including children in difficult life situations.
Hrazdan's community has provided a 300 square meter area for the daycare center building for the passed 10 years free of charge.

The center is compensating fees for the children with mobility restrictions and for the children who are in difficult life situations. On average, there are about 22 beneficiaries per month.
The social worker of the center cooperates with the governmental and non-governmental social healthcare services of the community. She finds children with disabilities and children in difficult life situations and directs them to the center.

The Children Assistance Fund's daycare and development center for children with special needs meets the following requirements set out in the RA legislation:
- Community and sanitary hygiene conditions - There are three toilets adapted for children with special needs, eg. wheelchair accessible etc. There is gas, constant cold and hot water, maintenance of cleanliness, a ventilation system, and periodic disinfection of property.
- There is a fire extinguisher and an automatic alarm system which is connected to MES 911 service. The center also has additional emergency exits on the first and second floors, providing people with evacuation in extreme situations.
- Security - The center has its own security system. It is day and night time video recording equipment . It consists of 6 cameras which record both inside and outside.
- The center has a special system which records the heat and movements, and works in conjunction with the alarm system to make a phone call to the director's phone number.
- There is an emergency evacuation scheme for the first and second floors in case of an emergency situation.
- The area of the center is relevant and adapted to the requirements of each specialist and manager. There are didactic tools and other necessary accessories such as educational materials, techniques, and literature. The center has 13 safe, well-equipped and adequate training rooms, classrooms and play rooms which provide the minimum standards for the care and upbringing of children with special needs.
- Currently, 150 children receive services. There are 11 employees, including a social worker, a special educator,a special psychologist, a physiotherapist,a speech therapist,a handicraft instructor, a music instructor, a painting instructor,a computer instructor, as well as an art teacher and checkers and chess professionals who work on a voluntary basis.

Admission procedures for children attending the center:
Based on the request from a parent or a guardian of the child aged between 1 and 18, the social worker collects a package of necessary documents, a copy of a birth certificate, a MSP certificate, an epicrisis , a copy of a parent or a guardian's passport, which is necessary for admission. After submitting the completed documentation, the parent or a guardian applies for the center's services. The social worker evaluates the needs and guides them to a multidisciplinary team (special educator, special psychologist, speech therapist, physiotherapist, social worker) for study. She plans the social cases as needed. As a result of the team's conclusion, the child is directed to the appropriate specialist.
Multidisciplinary team in the center:
The social worker carries out individual and group work with children and families. She evaluates the needs, makes a social history, conducts the case, and runs self-help groups with children's parents. If the beneficiary is absent three-time, she connects with the family, clarifies the reason for the absence and, if necessary, carries out home visits. On average, services are available for around 153 beneficiaries each month. Activities are aimed at correcting speech disorders, developing communication skills, and ensuring the normal development of the age. On average, about 32 beneficiaries benefit from these services per month.
The special educator carries out individual and group work aimed at learning the necessary knowledge for the lives of the beneficiaries such as the development of skills, abilities, and the upbringing of physical, ecological, cultural, humanitarian values. On average, about 27 beneficiaries take advantage of the services per month.
The special psychologist performs individual and group work aimed at the beneficiaries' emotional and communication skills, behavioral manifestations, and cognitive development. Art therapy is utilized for revealing children's inner world and solving problems. As a result of its analysis, individual and group work is planned. On average, about 27 beneficiaries take advantage of these services per month.
The physiotherapist carries out individual and group work based on the conclusion from a pediatrician and/or physician on the physical condition of the patient. She carries out therapeutic physical training such as kinesiotherapy, manual therapy, massage, training, aeroflex breathing technique. On average, about 31 beneficiaries take advantage of these services per month.
The art and handicraft instructors carry out works which are aimed at the development of small motor skills, creative thinking, imagination, memory development and focus. On average, accordingly, about 48 and 34 beneficiaries take advantage of these services per month.
The music instructor carries out individual and group work which are aimed at the development of memory, imagination, small motor skills, using integrative music therapy. She also carries out song and piano lessons. On average, about 22 beneficiaries take advantage of these services.
The computer skills instructor provides training for children with disabilities who are attending the center and for children who are in difficult life situations. He also provides technical support to the center. On average, about 23 beneficiaries take advantage of these services.
There are also theatrical art as well as checkers and chess groups in the center on voluntary basis which are aimed at developing logical thinking, imagination, creative thinking, memory, visual perception, developing verbal speech, and shaping knowledge and understanding of the surrounding world. On average, accordingly about 18 and 37 beneficiaries take advantage of these services per month.
Documentation:
The social worker places the complete documentation of the beneficiary into packages by classification: users of professional services and users of groups. Each of the instructors makes an individual plan for the child. Quarterly, instructors summarize the work performed and create a booklet of the results and of their own individual plan. When the work with the child ends, the specialists also summarize the total work and individual plan, and afterwards it is confirmed by the specialists and the director. When the child's visit is stopped, a termination sheet is drawn up including the period, reason, and other services provided by the center. If the parent of a suspended child wishes to go to the center again, it will be restored indicating the reason and the period of the termination sheet in the recovery section.
The daily work starts at 13.00 and ends at 17.30 . Within the working day of the center, a 30-minute break is provided for rest and meal from 14:30 to 15:00 .
